Common courtesy isn't quite so common.

Overcoming Simple Obstacles

Cruisin' down the road in my girlfriend's sleek little car, a chain of cars in front of us slam on their brakes.

(Oh crap.)

Everyone is stopped for a few seconds then 1 car pulls onto the shoulder, the others drive around the obstacle.  Obviously, everyone is damage free, so they continue on without worrying about who's behind them.  They go around the obstacle as quickly as they can. We are stopped - faced head on with it.  I step out of the car, the driver of the car on the shoulder steps out as well.  We glance at each other and without verbal communication, we both head to the obstacle, throwing it clear of the highway.

If someone had not taken the time to clear the path of a simple obstacle there could have been major consequences.  Now this may seem like a small thing, but think about it, next time you see something in your path.  I think it can be seen as a metaphor for life.  Do you leave obstacles for others that you could have easily removed?

Thank you, Mr. dark blue VW,  for your uncommon courtesy.
